How we take care of our out-of-town guests:
The temperament test/meet and greet is a critical component of us being able to provide amazing service to the dogs in our care. The main reasons we have to do a temperament test is the following:
1. So that your dog is comfortable in our care when they board, as they have had the experience of spending 1/2 day with us, and ample time getting used to us and the other dogs (assuming they are a butterfly).
2. So that we can verify that they don't have any pent up aggression issues toward other dogs (would make them a bookworm) or more importantly our humans.
3. So that we can meet them and determine which program (butterfly or bookworm) is better for them and if butterfly, which group best suits them.
If you are coming from out-of-town, you will not have ability to set up a temperament test and we really love being able to help our community and fellow businesses, museums, clubs, families, etc. that brings you here so...
we have a solution:
If you are coming from out-of-town and need us to care for your pup while you are here, you will have a modified experience that does not involve the temperament meet and greet test but instead your pup will be placed in the Bookworm program at the onset. We will still work to bond and get them happy with us through the enrichments that the humans provide but we will not attempt to place them with other dogs unless we are able to. The assumption should be that they will stay a BookWorm throughout their stay.
Bookworms have fun at CoolWag so don't worry that they won't have fun, but it is a little more money because we spend more one-on-one time with them.
To sign up, go to CoolWag.com/register and sign up for our reservation system and upload or email their vet records showing they are up-to-date on their vaccines.
Once you do that, you need to email us at info@coolwag.com letting us know that you are from out-of-town and will not be able to come to a temp test and let us know the dates and times of drop off and pick-up.
We will schedule it for you under the Bookworm program.
As long as you create an account and send us or upload the updated vaccination records, the only thing that could "mess it up" is if they come in and are unable to relax and let us take care of them. If they show serious signs of aggression that can't be patiently worked through (by one of our trainers on staff), we would have to contact you to pick them up.
This out-of-town option is not typically available for in-town guests mainly because of the last part...we must be able to get in touch with you should your dog become aggressive with the humans. Just know that it is rare and we can usually manage to get a dog happy with us BUT, if the case should arise, we have to have a plan and it is for pickup for everyone's safety.
